We can use many adjectives to describe ourselves and our environment, Blue Lake, which we build and care for together, as it gives space to many different activities and even more intentions, plans, and dreams.
We can call it Hungary's largest permaculture-based landscape regeneration project.
Since our team took over the care of Manas Garden, we have embarked on a large-scale transformation. Our goal is to create an integrated ecological unit that we heal, develop, and care for in a systematic way. We are planting groves and forest gardens, regenerating soil, nurturing a pond, protecting and increasing the area's wildlife.
Permaculture training and demonstration site
We use the ethical design system and techniques of permaculture in maintenance and development, we produce vegetables, fruits, herbs, and we want to share our knowledge with as many people as possible, through dissemination of knowledge and practical workshops.
Event and festival venue
The first and most beloved child of Blue Lake is the Manas Festival, which is welcoming its guests for the third time this year.
We provide a natural, yet developed venue for international meetings, team building, retreats, yoga camps, and many other events.
Community Space
Our community aims to offer an alternative to the 21st century. We live and work together as friends, as fellow human beings for our own dreams, for goals that transcend us.
Where do we come from and where are we going?
In the fall of 2021, the Blue Lake holiday village came under our care in Lengyeltóti, 14 km south from Lake Balaton.
The four-story, spaceship-like hotel was built in 1968 in the brutalist style on the area that once housed events and summer camps organized by the Hungarian Young Communist League.
The holiday village was operated by SIOTOUR from the 70s, then it became private property, and finally, after ten years of neglect, we are trying to regenerate it and fill the area with human presence – in harmony with the environment, based on the principle of fair share.
Our Goals
We have gone through a lot of changes in the past two years, several developments are currently underway, and we have even more ideas waiting to be realized. This place inspires everyone's imagination.
Healing
We have planted 110,000 trees, are raising beds, building open community spaces with special buildings, and creating circular living water systems.
We are building dance floor and stage on the lakeshore, renovating houses; our small community is gradually making their home here.
Connection
We want to create a space where you can connect. With nature, yourself and others. Where you can learn, turn inward, heal, and transcend yourself.
We want to provide an opportunity for both those who live here and those who come to visit us to ground the changes that have taken place within.
Learning
At Manas Garden, we want to create an opportunity to transfer knowledge that provides solutions to the problems of the man of the future and helps to bring to life his faith in nature and community.
Conservation – Events
